The Thematically-Focused Panels (TFPs) are a new feature of the CESE conference and provide an opportunity for leading educationalists of all types – including comparativists – to present their work in ways that unfold our conference theme further. Typically, a TFP will comprise three or four papers that all refer to a certain aspect of the main conference theme and brought together at the submission stage into one coherent session. The Executive Committee of CESE and the Local Organising Committee are interested in receiving ideas from potential TFP conveners at an early stage. Colleagues that wish to put together a TFP of three or four papers should submit a title and an overall description of their TFP of between 300-400 words and may include the following information:
- Objectives and main issues to be addressed.
- Main perspectives and/or theoretical/conceptual frameworks.
- Description of how the session will be structured.
At the time of submission you will be asked to also submit the abstracts of all individual papers (three or four), as well as the names and affiliations of the TFP participants (and their emails).
It is also possible for individuals to submit their papers to TFPs individually, in case their papers focus on a theme relevant to the theme of the conference but outside the frame of one of the working groups. In this case, the conference organisers would allocate submitted papers to relevant themed panels.
A TFP session is 90 or 120 minutes long with approximately 30 minutes allocated to each paper. (See Paper Presentation Guidelines).
